Our Region
We live in Zeeland in a town called Middelburg . Zeeland is a small part of the Netherlands near the sea, you call such a part a county. Zeeland is known for The storm surge barrier and its rich coast. The county is also a popular place to go on a vacation, since there are lots vacation parks and places. We like it a lot here, one of the reasons is because there are so much sport facilities! and we can do any sport we like. From dancing to football, whatever you want!
To do this research we interviewed two people who own a sport facility. We chose Jermy Dijkstra and Esther. We also handed out 11 questionnaires to people from our school.

Different sport facilities
Manager and fitness coach
Jermy Dijkstra is a manager and Fitness coach at Fitland. Fitland has recently been taken over by another sports branch, named Basic fit. Jermy is 26 years old and just finished his study one year.
He started working at fitland in 2009 as an intern. Later on when his study was finished he started working there as a fitness coach, after 3 years he became the manager. He tells us it is a very stressful job, because he has to coordinate everything. Lots of people come to train in his sport center every day. He is very happy about that. Jermy said: '' I like it that people are sporting, but I still think much more people need to sport. Not only to lose weight, but also to empty their heads and just do something fun.'' And we totally agree with him! Almost everyone can sport and they should!
Esther Dance Teacher
Esther is a Dancing teacher. Esther was only 6 years old when she discovered she loves music and dancing. Every time she heard music, she immediately started dancing. Esther thinks dancing is a way to escape from reality. She thinks everyone can enjoy dancing, if they want to.
Esther became a dancing teacher because she wanted to give her love, enthusiasm and knowledge about dancing to other people.
She knows a lot of people from the dancing scene. At workshops Esther meets colleagues and exchanges ideas with them. She also knows a lot of people from her own dancing school.
What Esther likes the most about dancing is that you can express yourself in dancing. You can make people happy, you can cause different emotions and you can surprise people.
Esther’s advice is:
Go enjoy the music! Feel free to move and stick to yourself.
Try to let go, dance and enjoy!
Sport clubs
Swift is a sport club where people can play korfball. Korfball is a typical Dutch sport. It looks a little bit like basketball, but still it is very different. You can't walk or dribble with the ball and the basket looks very different. Swift is a well maintened sport club, though there are some problems with the changes in the game. There is no good schedule on which you can see who has to be change. But it does have a very nice sport hall and changing rooms.
VV Arnemuiden is a football club in Arnemuiden, a small village in Zeeland. You can play football here, or as the American people call it soccer. There are almost no problems in the sport club. Except in the winter, the footballers can't play on the frozen fake grass. Further they regularly buy new footballs which is a very good thing.
The Sprong is the sport ground where we have our Physical Education lessons. It is a very good sport ground, but it can be very cold when we have lessons in the sport halls. Further they have lots and big sport halls and fields.
Different ages
There are lots of sport facilities here especially for younger kids. For the woman who have passed the age of 40 it can be a little harder to find a nice sport. But if you look hard enough, like misses Kole who also has past her 40s, she practices Body balance, you will find something. So if you would need to change something for these woman, I think all you have to do is promote sports for woman of their age and the problem will be solved.
School
At school we have 2 hours of physical education in a week. Besides that we don't have a lot of sport activities at our school. Except for the Talentspecials and the sport classes. If you really like sports you can choose the P.E Talentspecial for 2 extra hours of P.E. And if you really are a sport fan you can join a special sport class!

Comparing with Vibgyor High,
We made a questionnaire and gave it to 11 pupils of our school and we found out that a lot of people variate in their choice of sport. The main similarities between Vibgyor High and CSW v/d Perre are the sports that are practised, but one sport is rarely (not) played in the Netherlands, but is played a lot in India: Cricket! And there is also a typical Dutch sport in the Netherlands called korfball.
People in the Netherlands play a lot of different sports like football, basketball, korfball. Those three are all ball sports. But people in the Netherlands also practise sports like acrobatics (called: turning in the diagram), horse-riding and swimming. Sports like basketball and football are also played in India, but less than in the Netherlands. Though sports like badminton and running almost aren’t played in the Netherlands and are played a lot in India.
